I'm not aware of any health concerns with squeezing tea bags. The problem is that tannins, which are released by squeezing or by steeping tea for too long, make the tea bitter.

Teabag Question
by: Becky Green

I always squeeze my teabags (though when I can I prefer brewing loose leaf teas).

To answer your question, I have not heard anything about a health concern from squeezing tea bags (gulp). Aren't there even tea accessories designed to squeeze bags?

If you can find the article you read, please post the URL so others can read it. And you could always talk with your doctor if you are concerned.
