Losing Weight -- No Quick Fixes
by: Jaita

A lot of teas seem to be the cure-all for weight reduction. While there may be some small component that may be of benefit from drinking tea (in large quantities) -- the fact is that weight loss is achieved from maintaining a calorie-controlled, healthy diet (low in sugars and fats) and consistent exercise (aerobic and resistance training).

It concerns me when there are so many companies out there professing weight loss miracles... and giving people hope of a quick fix. Losing weight is never an easy proposition. It takes commitment and effort -- even when efforts are complemented by drinking tea.

Thanks for the forum to share my thoughts on this subject.

Pu Er and weight loss
by: Fu Dao

Hi Kat,

When you talk about Wu Yi Tea, you probably mean Da Hong Pao.

Since the Ming Dynasty Da Hong Pao has been cherished for its long lasting bouquet, which relaxes the heart and the body – and for its generally positive effects on health.

However, specifically for weight loss, I would recommend Pu Er Tea. Pu Er has been valued for its therapeutic qualities ever since the time of the Tang Dynasty nearly 1500 years ago. Numerous studies suggest that it lowers levels of cholesterol and blood pressure. It reduces triglycerides and helps prevent heart and liver disease caused by high blood fat levels. Pu Er is also known to detoxify the liver. It helps cure indigestion and infections of the digestive system and, due to its high antioxidant content, prevents cancer. It has an energising effect, which is why it is particularly popular in autumn and winter.
